Water Lily - 3 Canvas Panels

There is something about Water Lilies that I love!  I paint them, draw them, mosaic them. They are very peaceful to me and remind me of Monet's Garden in Giverney, France.  The Impressionist style is one of my favorite Art Periods.  I could look at artwork from this period all day and never get tired of it.  I spent six (6) weeks painting in Monet's Garden in Giverney in the summer of 1999.  It  was one of my best painting adventures.  I lived in a converted bakery, on the grounds of a home built in the 1600's, which was a half mile from the actual gardens.  No phones, no TV, no car, no computer, only a small radio that was only tuned into french stations.  I was removed from all the hustle and bustle of modern life.  It was blissful. Did I mention I don't speak French, I can mime in French.....you should see that!

I got up everyday, had breakfast, packed my art bag and easel, and walked to Monet's Garden. I had a key and could be the gardens whenever I wanted to paint.... morning, noon or night.  I did about 20 paintings during my stay and look back on them and remember exactly where I was when I painted them.

This particular painting is three (3) joined canvas's, then painted as a whole piece. Which gives it a 3-D effect, something a little different.
